The Chino Valley Fire District is considering a title change for the Public Information Officer that would capture the PIO’s role as a community liaison, department spokesperson, author of all internal and external communications and the manager/supervisor of the District’s Public Education department.
The Fire District would like to review various job titles that include Community Relations Manager or Director of Public Affairs and the roles and responsibilities of the people working under those titles.

Strategic Communications Manager – Bilingual
City of Santa Ana, California
Salary: $7,538 – $11,190 per month
The City of Santa Ana is seeking a creative, dynamic and results-oriented Strategic Communications Manager/Public Information Officer. The position works closely with the City Manager and Executive Management Team and is responsible for developing and implementing all phases of the city’s marketing and public awareness efforts.
Oversees and manages content released via print, radio, electronic media, television and the city’s public access channel. Develops a marketing and communications program that conveys the city’s successes to both internal and external stakeholders. Writes press releases, news articles, feature stories and PSA’s. Coordinates public relations activities and events. Counsels elected and appointed officials concerning public relations aspects of programs and actions. Serves as point of contact for media. Manages website and social media.
Requires five years of experience in professional level media relations. Experience as a spokesperson for a complex public or private organization is desired. Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, communications, journalism or related field may be used to meet minimum requirements. Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is required.

Many people seem to be confused about how to RENEW membership to NIOA using a credit card. The process is simple. It is the same form that is available for applying for membership.
Simply go to the (newly labeled) link from the top drop down menus of the site:
Membership -> Apply/Renew NIOA Membership with Credit Card
Just above the section where you enter credit card information you will see a selection item:
Simply select the appropriate choice and continue with the application.
