Public Information Officer

Reporting directly to the Mayor, the Public Information Officer (PIO) serves as a liaison between the City and the media writing news releases, planning news conferences, and responding to inquiries from the media. The PIO serves as the director of the Video Services/Communications Department, directs the operations and employees of the department and provides programming and information for the City’s public access and government access television channels. The PIO maintains the City’s social media sites, develops informational videos, and prepares printed and electronic messaging. The PIO may represent the City at public meetings, coordinate the City’s presence at various events, and represent the City at local, national, and international trade shows. The PIO assists other City departments with their communications needs.

This position is new to the City of Pocatello and; consequently, will influence the full scope of the PIO’s role beginning with developing and implementing a long-range communication plan, including measurable goals, and process improvements.

Salary Range
$55,009 – $64,721
