Effective strategic communication plays a role in the authentic understanding of a community and can be an economic driver to those outside. The Strategic Communications Manager will be tasked with telling the story of Wilson as a community of choice for both citizens and businesses while highlighting its successes and triumphs. Building the Wilson brand and brand management, will be a key responsibility of this new position, along with leveraging a variety of tools to increase two-way communication, help employees and citizens be excellent ambassadors for Wilson to the region and nationally, while devising and coordinating outstanding, authentic and dynamic messaging both internally and externally.

The City’s newly created Strategic Communications Plan provides a blue print for the department and City to achieve these outcomes. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills in leading with proactive and strategic methods that align communication tactics with the mission, vision and values of the organization.
