The City of Leander is a home rule city and operates under a council-manager form of government. The FY2017 total budget is over $126 million, with a general fund budget of $30.4 million.

Under the supervision of the City Manager’s Office, the Public Information Officer serves as the media spokesperson for the City and develops the City’s communication plans and implementation strategies for marketing programs, news releases, publications, and information campaigns for a variety of communication media. The PIO attends all the City Council meetings and, occasionally, Planning and Zoning Commission meetings.

A bachelor’s degree and 2 to 5 years of related work experience in marketing/media is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. A master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of progressive experience. Municipal experience is preferred.
