The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a creative, organized, detail-oriented professional for its Community Affairs Unit.

Reporting to the Chief of the Community Affairs Unit, this individual will have a varied range of tasks and will assume a significant role in supporting all aspects of the BCPO’s communications, including public and media relations, press event coordination, research, web and social media content creation, social media monitoring, poster and flyer creation, social media online community management, and analysis of performance metrics. This position will assist with dissemination of public messaging including crisis communications as well as strategic communications designed to advance the BCPO’s mission, reputation, and brand.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating, writing and producing digital content for social media and the web, based on BCPO news, activities, and initiatives. Primary focus is on finding stories, developing posts, covering BCPO activities and events (including shooting photos and video) with the goal of creating short-form posts designed to support the BCPO’s mission and brand
  • Oversee BCPO-related social media accounts and ensure the voice and posts are consistent with brand standards and social media best practices
  • Analyze and report on social media trends, best practices and relevant developments in the law enforcement sector
  • Provide social media metrics and analytics and generate performance reports
  • Assist in 24/7 monitoring of digital channels for BCPO-relevant posts/threads
  • Design and create posters and pamphlets
  • Edit PowerPoint presentations to ensure conformity to brand guidelines
  • Assist with press conferences
  • Set up, attend, and photograph a variety of community events and presentations, which may occur after the close of business

$1,485 – $2,186 per week ($77,174 to $113,673 estimated annual)

image of San Mateo County Transit District logoThe Government and Community Affairs Officer will meet with local, state, regional and federal government officials, garner support for the agency’s legislative and policy agenda and capital plans/projects as well as coordinate activities that support a board coalition of local, regional, state and national third-party advocates.

Responsibilities will include identifying media related activities that advance the agencies’ capital projects and planning efforts and monitoring legislative activities and reporting progress plus outreach activities for capital projects and planning efforts. We seek a strong communicator who can assist with the creation of public engagement campaigns as well as draft and make presentations to local civic and community-based organizations.

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field plus three (3) years of experience in the field of Communications, Public Relations, or Community Outreach required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
