New Appointments Made

Two people were recently appointed to assist the membership as members of the regional director and executive board teams:

Regional Director

Adam L. Bernstein, Virginia Beach Police Department, was appointed to Region 3 Co-Director. He will serve in the role vacated by the recent election of Jack Goldhorn to NIOA Vice President. He will assist co-director Robert Thomas. They cover the states Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, as well as the District of Columbia.

Bernstein said, “I am extremely excited about this opportunity to serve you as the NIOA Region 3 Co-Director.

If I can ever do anything at all for any of you, please do not hesitate to contact me. If you have any ideas of how we can make the NIOA better, please let me know and I will pass your ideas along to the Board.”

Bernstein’s contact information can be found on the Regional Director page of the NIOA web site.

Past-President Liaison

The NIOA board, with the approval of the members at the conference in Nashville, has created a past-president liaison position on the executive board. This change to the by-laws allows the past-presidents council an opportunity to provide valuable insight, experience, and mentor opportunities to the board. It also helps the past-presidents to stay connected to the NIOA when they are unable to attend conferences and other NIOA functions.

The NIOA Past Presidents Council has unanimously chosen Don Aaron, Nashville Police Department, to represent them as liaison. Aaron’s many years of dedication to the organization, combined with his skill at “getting things done” has shown him to be an excellent choice. Find Don Aaron’s contact information on the Board of Directors page of the NIOA web site.

Region 4 Directors Change

The NIOA has experienced some changes this week in Region 4.  Matt Stanley in Savannah, Georgia recently left his job at the Savannah Fire Department and took a position with the Chatham County EMA in Savannah. He decided that he wanted to concentrate on his new job duties, so he resigned his position as the Region 4-B Regional Director.

The Board decided to offer the entire region to Mike Fronimos, who was Matt’s co-director.  Mike has graciously accepted.

We wish Matt all the best in his new job.  We’re grateful for his years of service as a Regional Director and we offer our sincere thanks to Mike for taking on these additional responsibilities.  Matt’s new contact information is:  Office (912) 201-4500; Cell (912) 547-3387; Email mjstanley@chathamcounty.org.
