SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the coordination and the dissemination of information and/or planning public relations activities for Montgomery County Government. This position shall also be responsible for all planning activities and programming for the County owned plaza venue located downtown.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•Act as point of contact for Department information and media assistance.
•Continually strive to improve and increase awareness of Montgomery County brand.
•Create and develop Marketing and Promotional materials for various county owned venues. Promote these venues to the public.
•Oversee all operations as well as programming and control on county owned plaza venue. To include but not limited to marketing of venue, researching and booking of acts, securing and coordinating with sponsors and promoting as necessary.
•Develop promotional material for external and internal constituents.
•Design, write, and edit special and periodic County reports, articles, and news releases for publications, reports, periodicals or the press by researching and organizing information to explain, document or promote County activities.
•Confer, in writing or orally, with the general public, civic organizations, Department Heads, Elected Officials, employees, and members of the communications media to establish and maintain liaison, answer inquiries and explain and interpret county programs and services.
•Plan, coordinate, and monitor the preparation and release of public information by developing program objectives or standards to determine priorities and procedures and evaluating effectiveness of publicity efforts.
•Interview department officials and employees to obtain information about county programs to write and edit information for County publications, news releases, annual and special reports, speeches, and radio and television scripts.
•Maintain records and files of news releases and public service announcements. Chronicles Commission Action events, awards and maintains database for County Census information.
•Prepare visual aids, digital presentations, exhibits and audio-visual materials for publication, distribution and speaking engagements. Layout and design informational material by taking photographs, selecting graphic illustrations, proofreading galley proofs and making arrangements for printing to prepare pamphlets, brochures and other materials.
•Develop innovative approaches to promoting a positive image of the County.
•Promote and coordinate promotional and ceremonial County events, public activities sponsored by the County to ensure broad exposure of the events; serves as liaison for the County in public activities.
•Make personal appearances and speeches as needed.
•Limited travel as required.
•Serves on various committees as appointed.
•Serves as point of contact for public records inquires.
•Attends county commission meetings and others meetings as assigned. These include meetings outside of normal business hours.
•Serves as liaison for citizen complaints and inquiries.
