The Senior Public Information Representative is a supervisory level professional who will manage and perform complex work in media relations, publications, web development, social media and communications management. We seek an exceptional communicator who can foster strategic and effective communication about EBMUD issues and act as media spokesperson and manage publications, social media, and web content. The incumbent will report to the Special Assistant IV (Public Relations and Community Outreach), and work closely with the General Manager, senior managers, elected and appointed officials and expert technical staff on programs and projects that provide essential community services and protect our environment.

Communication Specialist SR- Public Information Officer

The City of Newport News is recruiting for a Communication Specialist SR- Public Information Officer. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, coordination, and communication of a variety of public information and media relations programs, services and activities designed to keep the public informed of the Police Department’s programs, accomplishments and position on current issues. May serve as a lead worker.

It requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing or a related field and 3-5 years of directly related experience in media relations, communications, marketing or public relations.

Prior law enforcement experience is preferred.
Anticipated hiring range: $44,651 – $79,565.

County Public Information Officer

Riverside, CA

SALARY
$88,024.00 – $157,919.00 Annually

The PIO will serve as a primary media spokesperson for the County and will develop and direct a comprehensive Countywide public information and public relations program. The PIO will be both proactive and responsive in developing stories and press releases of public interest, and in responding to news media and public information requests. The selected candidate will collaborate and build strategic partnerships with County leadership, department stakeholders, and other public information staff in order to facilitate the appropriate and effective execution of the County’s information programs. This includes developing media, information management, and public relations strategies, and ensuring County compliance with the California Public Records Act. The PIO will also manage the County’s central online presence through social media and other digital platforms, and will work with department representatives in the effective utilization of electronic media. Additionally, the PIO will play a key support role by providing tactical direction to County Departments with regards to public relations issues, and working strategically with stakeholders to promote public awareness on a broad range of County activities and initiatives.

The successful candidate for the PIO position will have strong public information/journalism experience that includes the development, editing, and dissemination of public information for mass media distribution. Candidates for this position must be confident and strategic media professionals with excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills. The PIO should be a highly talented editor with the ability to distill information into engaging content, and will have demonstrable journalism experience, and/or experience responding to the press or public on complex issues. Candidates who possess a thorough understanding of the achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives, and programs of the County are highly desired, as are those who are bilingual in Spanish.
