Hello everyone,

The State of Kentucky is officially requesting public information officers to support their ongoing tornado response and recovery efforts. They need three PIOs and one JIC manager.

PIOs would deploy to Frankfort for about two weeks. If you are interested in going and are able, contact your state emergency management office’s logistics team.

Here’s the official request:

A Public Information Officer (Type 3 or similar) is needed for interfacing with the public and media or other agencies with incident-related information requirements. Capable of monitoring and managing social media, creating press releases, and performing interviews. The PIO will bring mobile devices, MiFi, cell phone, camera. The PIO can be deployed to a fixed (EOC) or mobile (Field) location as required. Experience with supporting state and local EOCs and Incident Commands with Public Affairs and/or Public Information activities. Able to schedule and conduct interviews, participate in public meetings, and manage VIPs. Requested PIO will report to the KYEM state manager operations center in Frankfort and operate out of the state joint information center primarily.
