The City of Medford is seeking a full-time Community Relations Coordinator. Under the general direction of the City Manager, this position performs a variety of complex public relations activities including developing, planning and coordinating a comprehensive community relations and marketing program for the City. This position will focus on increasing the visibility of the City in the community, the region, and the state. Plans, develops, creates, organizes, and facilitates public information and coordinates citywide publications, events, and information and citizen engagement activities. This position promotes awareness and understanding of City services, policies, projects, issues and creates new approaches to solve complex public affairs issues.

Job Qualifications:

Ideally, three (3) years of professional experience in public relations or affairs and/or marketing. Direct experience with local government is desirable; and Graduation from high school, preferably supplemented by college course work in the areas of public relations, marketing and communications and/or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Current technical/professional knowledge of complex principles, methods, standards and techniques associated with journalism, broadcast media, public relations and graphic design.

Employment: Public Relations Coordinator – Fairview, TX

The Public Relations Coordinator/Town Secretary is responsible for drafting press releases, coordinating publication of the Town magazine, and developing other types of media communication to promote the Town. Preparing, posting, and distributing all agendas, packets, and official minutes of the Town Council and boards/commissions is also an essential part of the position.

Additionally, the position manages public information requests, records retention, and election administration.

The position reports directly to the Assistant to the Town Manager.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three years of local government experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

The salary range for this position is $53,161 to $71,194, depending on qualifications and experience.

Lieutenant Chris Brokaw of Charleston County Sheriff’s Office in Charleston, SC has been asked to gather policies from law enforcement agencies regarding their Public Information Units or Public Affairs Units. If you have a policy that you can share, please email a copy to him at cbrokaw@charlestoncounty.org. If possible, also include a copy of an organizational chart showing where the PIO is located and who/what other departments are under their control.
