NIOA Member Requests Survey Participation

Another NIOA member is completing their Master PIO training. They request the assistance of NIOA members to complete a survey:

I am currently enrolled in the Master Public Information program and as part of the class I have to produce a research paper. One of the ways I am conducting this research is via a survey that I would like other PIO’s around the country to fill out.

Boston Inspectional Services Share Lip Sync Video

BIS shows they have a fun side!

A great video was shared with us from Lisa Timberlake, Director of Publicity at Boston Inspectional Services. She’s also an NIOA member!

Lisa says,

“In August 2018 my colleague and I attended our first NIOA conference in Florida. Besides finding it very informative one of the take a-ways we received was how many agencies produced a lip-sync video in hopes of showing them in a fun and happy light. Upon our return to Boston we thought why not produce our own video?

Often times the Boston Inspectional Services Dept. are looked at as the “bad guy” the enforcement agency who will shut down your favorite restaurant, vacate a building or issue fines. So we put together this four minute video of staff ranging from building inspectors, clerks, chief of staff, admin. secretaries, managers, asst. commissioners, Commissioner and a cameo from our Police Commissioner, Ralph Tresvant, Wally (Red Sox mascot) and Charra (Boston Bruins Captain.)”

This is the second cohort of this advanced training program. To fulfill course requirements, she must complete a research document. She has created a brief online survey to gather data for her paper.

Crystal asks NIOA members and any other PIOs to take a few moments to complete a survey about Public Information Officers and Networking: Short Link to Survey

The survey takes approximately five minutes to complete. Crystal says that she knows we are all busy; she appreciates as many submissions as possible. Location or agency type are not limited. Anyone who handles the PIO job function during a crisis, regardless of job title, is encouraged to take the survey.
